What is personal development, and why should you care? Why is it important?

Sharpening Your Axe

Abraham Lincoln said, “Give me six hours to chop down a tree, and I will spend the first four hours sharpening the ax.” Personal development is sharpening your axe. Personal development is about taking the time and effort to invest in your greatest asset—yourself. It’s developing the mindset and skills to achieve your goals. It’s very simple. If you don’t like who you are or where you are in life, you have the response-ability to change. Do you want to improve your health? How about your marriage? Would you like to enjoy greater financial freedom? Find someone who has succeeded at what you want and learn from them. Read books. Listen to podcasts. Join masterminds groups.

The only way to be fully alive is to be your best. In order to be your best, you need to constantly be improving. And the only way to constantly improve is through personal development.
